Lucky "E" Baby huey WormThis is a Bass Pro listing from the web in 2010 for the Luck "E" Strike Salty Elite Series - Baby Huey Worm. Jack Smithwick bought Championship Tackle Co. in 1972. He advertised the brand for several years under both the Championship Tackle brand and the Smithwick brand. He included the worms and spinners in the Smithwick catalog in the late 1970's and early 1980's. At some point in time he sold Championship Tackle Co to the Steven twins, Larry and Terry in Longview,TX. They were given the extra packaging and this is where the extra label came from on some of the packaging with a Longview, TX address. I am told that Larry and Terry found it cheaper to buy the worms from a major manufacturer (Harville Mfg.owned by Hugh Harville) than it was to make them from scratch. Hugh Harville was involved in a legal case involving Arkie Lures vs Gene Lerew. This case was over adding salt to lures and Hugh was a witness on Gene Lerew's behalf. Hugh Harville passed away in Tennessee in July of 2009. He had sold the business about 10 years ago to Luck "E" Strike. So to make a long story short... the Smithwick package of worms we found look exactly like the worms sold today as the Luck "E" Strike Salty Elite series - Baby Huey Worm. Thank You Brooks Tarkington for all the information on this!! Jan 26, 2010
